The legendary Tak Open tournament, hosted by the U.S. Tak Association (USTA), is returning for its 2021 edition. This year's Open is expected to almost triple the number of competitors who appeared in last year's tournament and will certainly showcase the Tak community's finest talent.
At least 7 of the top 10 rated players on Playtak.com have registered to compete. Among the participants is reigning Tak Champion Fwwib alongside his closest competitor, NohatCoder, and the likely best player from the United States, Abyss. All three frequently swap spots among the top 3 rated players on Playtak.com. The tournament also welcomes other champions as well, including PlutoTheBrave who won the Intermediate Invitational Tournament earlier this year. At the time of publication, over 40 Tak players have entered to compete.
In years past, the USTA's Tak Open was the Tak world's flagship tournament that occurred every other year. The victor of the Open was crowned "Tak Champion". In accordance with the USTA's new Championship Cycle, several changes have been made to this year's Open. The tournament is free and open to all, regardless of membership status with the USTA. Further, the top 3 finishers in the 2021 Open will gain automatic entry to compete in the 2022 Championship tournament, which will crown the next Tak Champion.
