Fwwwwibib is ‘Taking Home the Gold’ in U.S. Tak Open
|| With back-to-back wins today over his final opponent, Fwwwwibib (Fwwib) has secured first place in the U.S. Tak Association’s (USTA) 2020 U.S. Tak Open, making him the Tak world’s new Champion. His victory dethrones NohatCoder who has held the title since the last USTA tournament in 2018.
Fwwib has been a long-time member and top player in the Tak community. His second place finish in 2018 - coming up just short against NohatCoder - and his more recent second place finish in the COVID-19 Cup, solidified his position as a strong contender in this year’s tournament. He has maintained a top rank among human players on the unofficial rankings throughout recent years, and has been widely recognized as a high-level player. This is Fwwib’s first tournament since 2017* where he is taking home the gold. Or in this case, taking home a sleek stone Tak set.
Fwwib and NohatCoder faced off against each other in Round 2, with each one taking a flat win against the other. Besides this one loss, Fwwib went undefeated against all other opponents.
NohatCoder has taken second place and, at the time of publication, third place is tied between Nqeron and Nitzel and will be decided by a blitz tie-breaker. That game is expected to take place sometime this week.
